Coca-Cola Europacific Partners - Verature

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners

“Verature is a fantastic piece of software. We now have a complete overview of each day of who is and isn’t allowed on site. It is making it far easier to ensure we are remaining compliant and safe even when external workers are entering our site. Furthermore, our return-on-investment time was a few months and more importantly my team and I can sleep well at night.”

How Coca-Cola Euro pacific Partners Wakefield has led the way for contractor compliance nationally…

Being the largest bottling plant in Europe, with thousands of different pieces of equipment to manage and tens of thousands of visitors and contractors on site each year, the Wakefield site needed an efficient and effective way to ensure compliance and security and reduce any health and safety risks.

Before Verature…

With Verature…

CCEP Wakefield were struggling to manage an increasing contractor workforce with an existing outdated and failing system and no easy way to evidence due diligence and check compliance.

A modern cloud-based system, to help better manage visitor and contractor compliance across their site to ensure CCEP Wakefield mitigate risk and protect their corporate reputation.

Managing contractors using spreadsheets and a legacy access system that regularly locked up and failed them. Manages all CCEP’s key contractor data in one central location to bring data and information together simply and easily in one system.
Contractors are manually sent out a questionnaire to then be completed and sent back to CCEP via a back-and-forth email exchange. Can automate questionnaire and document requests using Verature and contractors can instantly upload their own insurance documents, and credentials, in any format, while having the ability to version documents and set review and expiry dates to maintain 100% compliance.
Cannot easily search information in the current system and do not have the visibility of expiry dates of documents such as insurances and questionnaires. Instantly see real-time information on their contractor management process, with data visuals on a digital health and safety dashboard to see what needs doing next, and what is expiring and needs attention.
Contractors and Visitors attending site must complete a CCEP Company Induction as well at Site. Inductions are given manually on arrival at site and followed by a paper-based assessment. Easily distribute the pre-qualifying induction presentation and questionnaires so the contractor can do remote inductions before arriving on site with verification questions which can only be answered with attention to the induction content.
Contractors manually sign in and are given paper badges on arrival at the Gatehouse, with no sufficient tracking process. Automates how visitors and contractors sign in or out of site with additional pass tracking, and a simple and easy contractor database with profiles to see who and when they are arriving on site.

When CCEP Wakefield found success with Verature in 2017, the system has continued to extend its value nationally across the UK and is now managing contractor compliance across multiple sites.

Coca-Cola Euro pacific Partners (CCEP) is the largest bottling plant in Europe, which is situated in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The 45-acre site produces over 100 million cases of pop every year and employs approximately 500 people.

The development team at Verature have worked with CCEP since 2010 after being approached with a new project towards delivering complete compliance at Wakefield Operations with additional and innovative business management systems.

With literally thousands of different pieces of equipment, which require some element of inspection, maintenance and calibration and tens of thousands of visitors and contractors on site each year, which need to be managed in a more efficient and effective way to ensure compliance and security, as well as reduce any health and safety risks.

The development team at Verature have continued to work with CCEP and were the first company to collaboratively develop the Verature Contractor Management System to help the business organise, control and secure access to the 45-acre site. The system is providing the most efficient, cost effective and convenient way of monitoring onsite events, by managing visitors and contractors by authorisation profiles; and recording and reporting onsite audits and permits.

The Facilities Departments are facing ever increasing health and safety requirements and it has become essential for the business to provide a secure environment for their workforce. The Verature system is ensuring the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 for managing health, safety and welfare are always being met.

“Automation is what has made this a successful project – reducing a lot of time chasing up suppliers, contractors, visitors and even internal staff for documentation and verification.”

Alan Theaker Alan Theaker Health and Safety Manager (Wakefield)

“We have over 500 different contracting companies and numerous visitors coming through the gate each year and the Verature system is keeping us secure. The automated alerts and escalations have a process built into the system, which ensure site inductions and the correct accreditation and insurance documents, are being collected and completed more efficiently and effectively prior to accessing our site.”

There was a record level of investment at the bottler’s Wakefield, Sidcup, and East Kilbride operations in 2019.

Coca-Cola Euro pacific Partners (CCEP) have been committed to investing for the future, increasing the scale of their investments in new technologies and efficient processes, as well as investing in and supporting their people to ensure they’re continuing to grow, learn and develop in line with new technologies and systems. Supporting manufacturing excellence across the country, in a way that is as productive, efficient, and sustainable as possible.

2018 Verature Implementation at CCEP’s East Kilbride…

CCEP’s East Kilbride site opened in 1964 and is best known for being the only manufacturing site in the UK to produce Appletiser products in glass bottles; the factory produces 18.5 million cases of soft drinks each year, using six factory lines, with a 200-strong workforce across manufacturing and distribution.

With a large workforce and contractors coming onto site, East Kilbride wanted to replace their legacy-based system that was also failing to meet the requirements of management contractor data and compliance information. CCEP’s Verature was implemented to replace East Kilbride’s unreliable system and to ensure compliance was effectively and efficiently being managed so they could show their duty of care to their strong workforce.

2019 Verature Implementation at CCEP Edmonton Manufacturing…

CCEP Edmonton Manufacturing site was established in 1974 and with a team of 229 employees the Edmonton factory is capable of making 50m cases of product each year and is responsible for producing brands from across the company’s entire portfolio, including Coca-Cola; Diet Coke; Coca-Cola Zero, and Coca-Cola Life. Its five manufacturing lines have the capacity to produce up to 142,000 litres of drink an hour.

To manage contractors onsite, Edmonton was using paper-based processes. Inductions and assessments were done on arrival at the main reception, which had become time consuming and causing bottlenecks. Verature was implemented to meet the needs of the team and proactively vet contractors before arriving on site enabling the Edmonton site to gain control and automated their once manual process, to help standardise their process to manage contractors coming on to site.

2021 Verature Implementation at CCEP Sidcup Manufacturing…

CCEP Sidcup Manufacturing site, has a 350 strong workforce, operates ten production lines as the site produces some of the nation’s best-loved brands, including Coca-Cola original taste, Diet Coke, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Fanta, Dr Pepper, Lilt, Sprite, Schweppes, and Capri-Sun, is the only Coca-Cola site in GB to produce 150ml and 250ml cans.

Sidcup knew they needed to put a system in place to better manage and collect information of their contractors coming onto site. To reduce administration time on site at their main entrance and Gatehouse, and replace their existing manual paper-based process, the CCEP Verature system was implemented to help the manufacturing site organise, control and secure access. Verature has enabled the Sidcup to remove the need for using spreadsheets as now contractors can self-manage and upload their own insurance documents and credentials securely into the system, being rest assured that expiry dates are automatically being tracked, and renewal reminders are automated so that they can remain 100% compliant.
